How do you measure coolant emulsion?

Measuring coolant emulsion and monitoring its quality is important to maintain the condition of your machine. In this article, we explain how you can best measure and track the status of your coolant emulsion.

Measuring with a refractometer

Start by collecting the coolant emulsion in a clean container. Make sure to do this before the emulsion comes into contact with the tool, to avoid contamination with other oils or metal particles. Once you have collected the sample, clean the refractometer and use a pipette to place a few drops of the emulsion onto the measuring surface. You can then read the concentration of the coolant emulsion directly from the refractometer.

Digital refractometer

As mentioned above, you can easily measure the concentration of coolant emulsion using a refractometer. In many companies, this is still done manually, which takes a lot of time for maintenance engineers. Today, digital refractometers are available. These instruments allow you to read the emulsion more efficiently and with greater precision. This saves a significant amount of time compared to using a manual refractometer.

LubriWatch application

To monitor the quality of your coolant emulsion, it is important to test it regularly and keep the data well organized. You can do this using the LubriWatch application. In this app, you can enter the G-brix values directly.
